Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen (Tenn.) said Thursday during a Congressional hearing that he wished he could give a Purple Heart to disgraced FBI Agent Peter Strzok for enduring questions from Republicans over his alleged attempts to use his position at the FBI to keep now-President Trump from winning the 2016 election.

"Mr. Strzok, I don't know where to start. If I could give you a Purple Heart, I would," Cohen began.

He went on to call the entire hearing "an attack on you and a way to attack [Special Counsel Robert] Mueller and the investigation that is to get at Russian collusion involved in our elections, which is what this committee should be looking at."

To remind, Strzok made headlines last year it was revealed he'd told his then-lover and FBI lawyer Lisa Page in a text that “we will stop” Trump from becoming president.

While that would’ve been alarming in an of itself, the texts were especially concerning given Strzok had worked both on the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, as well as the beginning stages of the FBI’s investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential election.

Also to remind, a Purple Heart is given to veterans who are wounded or killed in combat.

But apparently to Cohen, getting grilled over your admitted attempts to thwart a presidential candidate is the same as getting pumped full of shrapnel while fighting for your country.
