Shortly after news broke that Palestine had fired an estimated 600 rockets into Israel, Michigan Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib rushed to Twitter to defend “our Palestinian people” for the attack that killed at least four Israelis, wounded dozens more and forced thousands to take shelter from the blasts.

According to the New York Times, Palestinians also killed an Israeli man with an anti-tank missile “when he made the mistake of driving his truck within range of Gaza” over the weekend. Israel responded to the attacks with an airstrike of their own into Gaza, killing nearly a dozen including a man they identified as a terrorist.

But apparently to Tlaib, reporting on Israel defending itself against another Palestinian attack shows a “continued lack of responsibility.”

"When will the world stop dehumanizing our Palestinian people who just want to be free?" Tlaib tweeted. "Headlines like this & framing it in this way just feeds into the continued lack of responsibility on Israel who unjustly oppress & target Palestinian children and families. #FreePalestine."

Tlaib is now catching flak on Twitter not only for her pro-Palestinian stance toward the Hamas-led group that literally pays the families of terrorists who kill Jews, but also for calling them “our Palestinian people" - despite the fact that she supposedly represents Americans.

Perhaps the next time Tlaib wants to defend a nation that continually shoots missiles into its neighbor, she should at least remember exactly which "people' she supposedly represents – and it’s not Palestinians.

Then again, I won’t hold my breath.
