Rep. Pressley Slams Black Caucus: 'We Don’t Need Any More Brown Faces That Don’t Want to Be a Brown Voice'

The civil war between the ultra-progressives in the House of Representatives, members of what the Washington Examiner has called “The Squad,” and the establishment Democrats headed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is heating up.

Backed by the progressive political action group, Justice Democrats, progressive politicians like Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) have challenged many of the more centrist Democrats in hopes of moving the party further left.

According to the Washington Examiner:

During a panel discussion at the Netroots Nation convention in Philadelphia, Rep. Ayanna Pressley took a shot at the CBC [Congressional Black Caucus]. 'I don’t want to bring a chair to an old table. This is the time to shake the table. This is the time to redefine that table. Because if you're going to come to this table, all of you who have aspirations of running for office,' the Massachusetts Democrat said on Saturday.

In her remarks she reduces individuals to their race, religion, and sexual orientation, saying that they need to center their work and identities on those factors and nothing else.

"We need you to represent that voice," she screamed into the mic. "We don't need any more brown faces that don't want to be a brown voice. We don't need black faces that don't want to be a black voice. We don't need Muslims that don't want to be a Muslim voice. We don't need queers that don't want to be a queer voice."

Her comments speak for themselves below:
