Reddit, an online aggregation site and discussion board, announced Monday that over 2,000 subreddits have been banned from the chatroom site, including a pro-Trump channel called "The_Donald."

According to a community statement from Reddit, The_Donald had been repeatedly asked to abide by Reddit’s content policy, but had ignored Reddit’s requests. The online group has now been banned for allegedly breaking Reddit rule 1, which, according to Reddit's policy, states: “Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.”

The community also allegedly violated rules 2 and 8, which restrict content manipulation and community interference.

As a result, Reddit has removed The_Donald, along with hundreds of other site communities, in its latest Content Policy update, accusing the community of upvoting rule-breaking content and antagonizing Reddit and other communities within the site.

Reddit says The_Donald has “to meet [Reddit’s] most basic expectations.”

“To be clear, views across the political spectrum are allowed on Reddit—but all communities must work within our policies and do so in good faith, without exceptions,” Reddit clarified, also announcing the ban of left-leaning subreddit, The_ChapoTrapHouse.

The_Donald consisted of over 800,000 members and was known for sharing memes and posting fierce criticisms of the president’s political opponents.

“We are committed to working with you to combat the bad actors, abusive behaviors, and toxic communities that undermine our mission,” Reddit's statement concluded.
