Police stopped pro-life groups from painting “Black Preborn Lives Matter” on the street in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Washington, DC. Two people were arrested for writing the message in chalk on a sidewalk Saturday.

Tina Whittington of Students For Life tells MRCTV that the group worked with police and city officials, and were verbally told the painting would not be prevented. When the event got underway, police arrived on the scene and stopped them.

The group then went to writing their message on the sidewalk with chalk, leading to two arrests. Whittington says Students For Life does sidewalk messaging outside the Planned Parenthood every Saturday.

“Why would they block it from happening this Saturday? I think they just don’t like our message, it’s viewpoint discrimination,” Whittington said.

Last month, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser helped to paint the streets of Washington, D.C. with the slogan, “BLACK LIVES MATTER,” and then allowed activists to paint, with permanent paint, additional messages like “Defund the Police.”

In a press release, Students For Life said:

After applying and receiving our permit for this event today, after being told by the Metropolitan police that the Mayor has quote “opened a Pandora’s box” by painting public streets, we arrived to SIX police cars threatening to arrest our team and students if they painted, even using the temporary paint we bought that the Police Department specifically requested.

The organization says it now plans to sue.

“Mayor Bowser, you’re about to get woke on Planned Parenthood’s racist past and present. You’re about to get woke on the violence of abortion. You’re about to get woke on the first Amendment,” Whittington said.
