President Donald Trump made history on the National Mall Friday by becoming the first U.S. president to address the crowd at the March For Life rally in person.

During Trump's speech, which lasted a little over 10 minutes in duration, the president addressed the "tens of thousands" of attendees by saying that he was "honored" by the distinction of being the first president to speak in person in the rally's 47-year history.

"It is my profound honor to be the first president in history to attend the March...For...Life!" Trump exclaimed.

Following the crowd's applause, Trump made very clear why he decided to attend the event.

"We’re here for a very simple reason,” Trump began. “To defend the right of every child, born and unborn, to fulfill their God-given potential.”

Trump also didn't mince words when he attempted to convey the sentiment of the March For Life crowd.

"All of us here today understand an eternal truth," Trump said, "every child is a precious and sacred gift from God."

Trump took the opportunity to call out far-left leaders across the country, like "lawmakers in New York" and Virginia Gov. Ralph "Blackface" Northam, and echo his call to Congress to essentially ban "late-term abortions."

"I called upon them to defend the dignity of life and to pass legislation prohibiting late-term abortion of children who can fell pain in their mother’s womb," Trump said to applause from the crowd.

Fox News reported that this year's March For Life was expected to draw "at least 100,000" people to the event.
