It should come as no surprise to anyone that knows that the U.S. is a constitutional republic, but Americans really don’t seem to like socialism — something to do with being dictated to about how to live their lives just doesn’t sit well with them. Go figure!

A new poll — whose publisher remains anonymous, but was written about by Axios — states that, despite 74 percent of respondents recognizing who socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is, only 22 percent actually have a “favorable view” of the freshman congresswoman.

Axios reported that the poll was conducted in May, before Ocasio-Cortez’s dustup with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and “included 1,003 likely general-election voters who are white and have two years or less of college education.

According to Axios, these are some of the findings from the poll:

  • Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view.
  • Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view.

Socialism was viewed favorably by 18% of the voters and unfavorably by 69%.

  • Capitalism was 56% favorable; 32% unfavorable.

The report also quoted a “top Democrat” who said that “socialism is toxic to these voters.”

It's possible that the majority of Americans, at least in the poll reported on above, see socialism for the never-successful ideology that it is. I guess 100 million-plus people dying because of said ideology could've been a deterrent.
