Yesterday evening, Politico appeared to have ‘accidentally’ published a report that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden had chosen California Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate.

According to Fox News, Biden is set to announce his VP pick on August 1, but Politico even beat the Biden campaign to the punch after a Twitter user took a screenshot of Politico’s “running-mate rundown” last night.

“Huh? Politico labeled Sen. Kamala Harris as Biden’s running mate...that he chose on August 1 (4 days from now),” Mark Bednar, spokesperson for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, said in a tweet.

The screenshot depicts Kamala Harris as Biden’s VP pic, complete with a short biography and even an alleged quote from Biden.

“In his announcement, Biden called Harris ‘a worthy opponent and a worthy running mate,’ alluding to the pair’s rivalry during the earlier stages of the Democratic primary,” Politico’s site read, “She will bring her experience as a prosecutor, household name recognition, and skill as a debater to the ticket.”

Politico confirmed with Fox News that the text was published by mistake and has been removed.

“Placeholder text was mistakenly published to the site,” Politico’s VP of marketing and communication, Brad Dayspring, told Fox News, “Our standard practice is to use ‘lorem ipsum’ as placeholder text. In this instance, that did not happen. We regret the error and any confusion that it caused."
