Politics are becoming increasingly more toxic each and every day.

On Friday, a man was arrested in New York for making “terrorist threats” against President Trump supporters and Republicans.

The Suffolk County Police Department arrested 75-year-old Martin Astrof after he threatened to kill people at the headquarters of GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin (N.Y.).

According to the police report, Astrof, a Democrat, confronted a specific GOP staffer and almost ran him over with his car:

“Martin Astrof was arrested after he threatened to kill supporters of Congressman Lee Zeldin and President Donald Trump,” Suffolk PD said. “Astrof went to the campaign headquarters of Congressman Zeldin and became irate with a campaign worker at approximately 11:15 a.m. After threatening to kill the campaign worker and other supporters, Astrof backed his car up in an aggressive manner nearly striking the worker.”

Astrof was charged with a felony, Making a Terroristic Threat, and Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree.

Rep. Zedlin addressed the situation in a statement on Twitter:

“In the US, political scores are settled at the ballot box, not by trying to kill your political opponents."

Despite the magnitude of the threats, the mainstream media has been relatively silent on the story. Although, one could only imagine the reaction if the threats were made against a Democrat.
