In a shocking turn of events that I'm sure surprises just about everyone, Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi admitted she doesn't much care if vandals tear down and deface statues and monuments to America’s historical figures - and suggested that the Founding Fathers wouldn't, either.

Referencing a statue of Christopher Columbus that was torn down by a mob and thrown into a Baltimore harbor this week, a reporter asked Pelosi during a presser Thursday, “Shouldn't that be done by a commission or the city council, not a mob in the middle of the night throwing it into a harbor?"

“People will do what they do,” Pelosi responded, appearing to shrug off rioters’ repeated acts of vandalism against public property.

The House Speaker added that statues should “probably” be removed in a more official capacity – but only for “safety reasons,” before going to assert that American icons like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln wouldn’t care much if monuments commemorating the past were ripped down.

“They would want us to be talking about the future,” she said. “They would want it to be about looking forward, not looking back.”

Meanwhile, Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young, a black man, has promised the vandals who dumped the Columbus statue in the harbor "will be brought to justice," saying that while he supports the public's right to protest, the incident was not a "peaceful protest."
