House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took another jab at freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Tuesday, seemingly mocking the 29-year-old bartender-turned-liberal darling's Twitter game.

When asked by USA Today about how she balances the more moderate Democrats in her caucus alongside more radical freshman lawmakers like Ocasio-Cortez, Pelosi downplayed the importance of having a large social media following if it doesn't result in actually getting things done.

"While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what's important is that we have large numbers of votes on the floor of the House," Pelosi said, without singling out AOC by name.

While it's true that AOC has 3.9 million Twitter followers - by far the highest number of any member of Congress and surpassing Pelosi's own 2.4 million by a good margin - it's also true that Pelosi holds the speaker's gavel.

While the rumored internal feud among old-school Democrats and the left's congressional newcomers hasn't exactly spilled out into the Capitol building's marble halls, there's no doubt that there's some tension in the shifting ranks. This isn't the first time Pelosi's taken a swipe at AOC and her far-left progressive agenda. Earlier this year, the San Francisco politician mocked AOC's Green New Deal as the "Green Dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is."

A short while later, AOC took a public stance against Pelosi's suggestion that impeaching Trump wasn't really an option on the table, saying, "We'll see."
