The headline really says it all, but, in fact, free speech social networking platform Parler is back online. No word as of yet on whether the app will become available, since Google and Apple pretty much run the world of phone app downloading. Yours truly checked the Google Play store this morning, Monday, and Google still displays a message that says, "Parler by Parler is not available on Google Play."
But the good news is that, as of this writing, I can confirm that Parler's website is back online. I logged in myself this morning and all seems well.
According to Just the News, Parler's interim CEO Mark Meckler that the platform is now "safe and secure" and shouldn't incur any shut down problems going forward.
There's also no word as of yet if people's old posts on the website will return, but there are no old posts available on my own profile.
Conservative commentator and Parler shareholder Dan Bongino commented on the website's return.
"Cancel culture came for us, and hit us with all they had. Yet we couldn’t be kept down," Bongino said. "We’re back, and we’re ready to resume the struggle for freedom of expression, data sovereignty, and civil discourse. We thank our users for their loyalty during this incredibly challenging time."
It appears as though there's still a few bugs the website needs to work out in order to get back to being fully operational, but the website in general is back.
Parler was removed from both the Google Play store and Apple's App Store following the events that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Amazon Web Services shut down Parler's website after the event as well, citing that those who used the social networking platform to organize what happened at the Capitol. Whoever organized whatever happened at the Capitol also used Facebook to organize, but they're "too big to fail," right?
Many people believe Parler was taken down because the Big Tech outlets freaked out following the immediate influx of users to Parler after Facebook and Twitter removed then-sitting president, Donald Trump.
