Dozens of parents and students recently rallied at the Ohio statehouse to show lawmakers that they support the Catholic Dioceses of Columbus’ decision to allow in-person classes 5-days a week.

Joe Beyer decided to rally with other parents outside the Ohio state capitol in Columbus to show support for Catholic schools remaining open this upcoming academic year.

Beyer says he understands there’s a risk sending children back to school but that getting an education in person is important.

“As of this moment, the Catholic schools are planning a five day return. So we do have that working in our favor,” Beyer says.  “But we are hearing that there's been a lot of pressure that's being applied to the local dioceses and the principles of the schools by teachers unions and by the local governments, because as you can probably imagine, most parents in public school situations are asking the question, 'why can't we do it if they can?'”
