Pandemic Paranoia? Target, Starbucks, CVS Among Companies Still Requiring Masks in States that Lifted Restrictions

It looks as if big corporations will be walking in the footsteps of Big Tech companies by ignoring law in favor of their own draconian measures.

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Hyatt Hotels Corp, Target Corp., Starbucks Corp. and CVS Health Corp. are among the companies who have come out and said that they will continue to require patrons to wear masks inside their establishments regardless of any law any state enacts.

Newsweek reported that Best Buy, Walgreens and JCPenney are also still requiring masks to be worn in their stores that reside in states that have already or might soon lift mask mandates.

Conversely, Life Time Inc. and Albertsons Cos. have announced that they plan to end mask mandates.

The news of companies taking a stand one way or the other comes just after both Texas and Mississippi announced that they would be dropping their states’ mask mandates, along with proclaiming that business can fully reopen.

These companies can institute whatever policies they like, but they’ll probably be surprised that people might choose to shop elsewhere in light of their actions — or lack thereof.
