Out On the Street: Would You Be 'Delighted' To Pay More in Taxes?

On CNN, last week, Democratic Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) told Anderson Cooper the U.S. is the only country that doesn’t guarantee health care to their citizens as a “human right, saying he believes that Americans would be “delighted” to pay more in taxes if it meant they had access to comprehensive healthcare.

“I suspect that a lot of people in the country would be delighted to pay more in taxes if they had comprehensive health care as a human right," Sanders told Cooper.

When I first heard that statement, I thought Sanders may have forgotten that most people think taxes suck — but the apparently, senator actually believes this.

But is that what other Americans think? Take a look at what visitors to Washington, D.C. thought of the Democratic presidential hopeful’s seemingly out-of-touch comment.
