Jim Acosta: 'We're Not Just Here To Report The News'

4.8k views

CNN’s Jim Acosta seemingly only cares about one thing…Jim Acosta. Judging by a recent appearance on fellow CNN propagandist Brian Stelter’s show “Reliable Sources” to promote his new book, “The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America,” Acosta attempted to paint himself as some kind of martyr just standing up for what he believes is right in his interactions with President Donald Trump and others in his administration.

Acosta glosses over a bunch of things, as if he’s been an angel throughout his time as a White House correspondent.

Stelter routinely tried to frame Trump as “insane” and “mentally unwell” by using Acosta’s own reporting of what “unnamed” people have said about the president, as well as bringing up what salty George Conway — husband of counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway — routinely says about Trump, which has very little substance to it.

When Stelter finally got to a question for Acosta, he asked Acosta if he has “any regrets” in covering Trump when super-reputable people talk trash about him daily.

Here’s part of Acosta’s response:

We're all grappling with how do we cover this president. My sense is that we have to stand for the truth. We're not just here to report the news. We're here also to defend the truth. When you have a president who has made, you know, 10,000 false or misleading statements since the beginning of his administration, you know that makes us fact checkers in real-time. It puts us in a position, unlike the Republicans who controlled the government for two years, sort of makes the fourth estate, the press, the check on a presidency that sometimes goes outside the bounds of normal presidential behavior.

"We're not just here to report the news?" Isn't that your job? I wonder, do job descriptions at CNN also require you to be an activist? You are literally a reporter, Jimmy-boy. If you do anything else it's either because your superiors want you told you to or you're going into business for yourself. Maybe it's both. Who knows what goes on in the mind of an egomaniac like Acosta?

Also, Acosta essentially said that he considers the press more important, reputable and vital than a Republican-controlled Congress. Why doesn’t he just say that he’d like the press to be the end-all-be-all in terms of which truth the public receives?

Here's video of Acosta's comments to Stelter:

I’d say Acosta is contemptible, but that would be a disservice to people who are actually contemptible. Acosta is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so.

In his new book, “Unmasked: Big Media’s War Against Trump,” Media Research Center President Brent Bozell, along with co-author Tim Graham, gave a list of the “media’s top 10 Trump haters.”

Who was number one on that list? Why, it’s none other than Acosta himself. But don’t worry, Jimmy-boy isn’t alone on that list. Stelter makes an appearance at number nine, so CNN is very well represented.

If you'd like to check out the entire list, watch the video below where Tim Graham breaks it down:
