Occupiers Play the Victim

As with so many grassroots liberal protest movements over the last 40 years, Occupy Wall Street has been marked by frequent arrests and clashes with the police.

For the last week in Oakland, California America watched as that city’s “Occupiers” vandalized buildings and threw various dirigibles at police forces.

As if someone sent out a memo to every OWS protester in the nation, most of them responded in a similar fashion when MRCTV asked them about the reasons for the violence and the hundreds of arrests that have happened since the movement began in early October.  They deny that the movement has been anything more than a “peaceful” exercise in expressing First Amendment rights and pin all the blame for both the arrests and violence on law enforcement.

Many also express the view that the cops are working in collusion with the very financial institutions that the OWS crowd is protesting in order to keep them from getting their anti-capitalist message out.

Of course, if you are familiar with leftist protest movements you know that this is all part of the plan;  Harass law enforcement officers to the point where they are forced to take action against you and then cry “police brutality” when they have to take aggressive steps in order to keep the peace.

Of course, the media happily adopts the protester narrative all too often.

But the pictures from Oakland are impossible to misinterpret.

And what are they so mad about?

Well, one has to admit that their rhetoric about the “1%” and attacks on the rich sound a lot like the class warfare talking points that Barack Obama and the Democrats have been using for the last 3 years. One has to wonder if there’s any connection between the Democrats strategy and the protest movement that has now culminated in a war in the streets of Oakland.
