You can thank Barack Obama for the current economic growth under the Trump administration - just ask him.

At a global warming climate summit in Chicago on Tuesday, the former president said that government reached in and profoundly “touched” all aspects of his administration’s policy.

“There was no aspect of policy that we were concerned about that was not touched profoundly by this issue. Which is the reason why the wasn’t just the EPA that was concerned about it, the Pentagon and our Joints Chiefs of Staff were concerned about it,” Obama told the crowd.

Obama than went on to praise new government regulations and spending programs for green energy that were implemented under his administration.

“We changed the way we consume energy, from the cars and trucks that we drive to the homes and businesses where we live and where we work. And we met resistance at every step of the way. And there were skeptics who said that these actions will kill jobs and depress growth. And instead as we took these actions we saw the U.S. economy grow consistently, we saw longest streak of job creation in American history by far. A streak that still continues by the way. Thanks Obama,” Obama said.

According to the Washington Times

The stock market has gained about 30 percent in value since Mr. Trump’s election in November 2016, and gross domestic product has increased more than 3 percent in each of the past two quarters. The jobless rate, meanwhile, has dropped to a 17-year low of 4.1 percent.
