Today, we march into the future, with a plan so bold, so cunning, and so pro-government, it could only have come from future politicians who have traveled back in time to deliver unto us one of the most powerful weapons in the battle between the individual and the state. Somehow, in their Future Labs™, they created for us not a weapon to move back in time and wipe out the past – everyone familiar with paradoxes knows that time travel is infinitely possible, and impossible, and possible, and impossible – but, instead, they have given us a weapon to expunge the memories of the past -- through the use of… words.
Indeed. They have gifted us with the power that is…
History Agent™ Barack Obama.
Observe the Obama power to whitewash all previous history, to Orwellize it, and make it what he says it is, and then, THEN, Time Travelers, we will see that Time Travel itself is unnecessary. For he who controls the past, controls the present and future.
Yes! While the records are still available, let’s look at what Barack Obama said about Donald Trump’s attitude towards the dinosaur pop media, many members of which have been attacking Trump and mercilessly throwing incorrect stories and outright lies at viewers for years...
While accepting, get this, the award for “Ethics in Government” from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign last week, Agent O said:
It shouldn’t be Democratic or Republican to say that we don’t threaten the freedom of the press because they say things or publish stories we don’t like. I complained plenty about Fox News, but you never heard me threaten to shut them down or call them enemies of the people.
Ahh, the genius of History Agent™ Obama.
Let’s go back in our memories, while we can, to see the history he destroys.
First, there are the actions of his IRS Director of “Exempt Organizations” unit, Lois Lerner, and her commands to target conservative journalists with tax scrutiny prior to the 2012 elections, delaying the groups’ ability to do their work. Those would be hundreds of non-profit conservative journalist organizations, a complete list of which the Obama Administration would not provide for three years, and only after a lawsuit and judge forced them to cough up the info.
Because, ya know, Agent O never tried to shut down journalists.
Perhaps Agent Obama is deftly working to make Americans forget his “Justice” Department, getting Verizon to cough up the Associated Press’ (AP) phone records in 2013 without anyone at AP knowing, something about which Gary Pruitt, the head of AP, observed:
These records potentially reveal communications with confidential sources across all of the newsgathering activities undertaken by the AP during a two-month period, provide a road map to AP's newsgathering operations and disclose information about AP's activities and operations that the government has no conceivable right to know.
Or perhaps Agent O is working to make us forget how his Attorney General Eric Holder, personally signed the order to have Fox News reporter James Rosen investigated under the Espionage Act in 2013.
Perhaps Agent Obama is attempting to make Americans forget that his Administration used the Espionage Act against more whistleblowers than all Presidents since the passage of the act in World War One – combined.
Perhaps Agent Obama is trying to make Americans forget that his Administration sentenced whistleblowers to more jail time than all other US Presidents in history – combined.
As Gabe Rottman, of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said:
By my count, the Obama administration has secured 526 months of prison time for national security leakers, versus only 24 months total jail time for everyone else since the American Revolution.
As Washington’sBlog notes, Agent Obama seems to want Americans to overlook the historical fact that his Administration spied on reporter Cheryl Atkinson, and to overlook other big and nefarious actions:
In an effort to protect Bank of America from the threatened Wikileaks expose of the bank’s wrongdoing, the Department of Justice told Bank of America to a hire a specific hardball-playing law firm to assemble a team to take down WikiLeaks (and see this)… The NSA and its British counterpart treated Wikileaks like a terrorist organization, going so far as to target its employees politically, and to spy on visitors to its website.
Or perhaps Agent Obama is trying to make us forget that his “transparent” Administration spent $36 million in its final year trying to fight lawsuits by reporters and lawyers trying to get government records.
Whatever the set of stories he might be trying to expunge, it seems that Agent Obama’s attempt to Destroy History™ is working. Already, malleable, sycophantic court jesters are nodding and propagating his re-write. Even CNN’s “Little” Brian Stelter took time out from his clown training to Tweet:
Obama telling the truth about his media criticism versus Trump's criticism: ‘I complained plenty about Fox News, but you never heard me threaten to shut them down, or call them enemies of the people.’
So it appears Obama’s attempt to expunge history is working on the weaker minds. Or perhaps those like Stelter are Memory Agents™ themselves, working parallel to Agent Obama to hide the past so they can control the future.
George Orwell never bothered to write about Time Travel changing the past. All he had to do was show us how willing promoters of state power are to rewrite it.
