It's really unfortunate. My new practice of reporting all the names of those killed in Chicago weekend shootings is going to be a little lengthy this week. Also unfortunate is the fact that the Chicago Sun-Times didn't give the names for all those killed this weekend, as details for some shootings weren't given by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
At least nine people were murdered, while another 14 were wounded in weekend shootings across the Chicagoland area this past weekend. This is the same amount of people that were shot as the previous weekend, but more people died from their wounds during the weekend that just ended. The previous weekend saw at least four people killed and another 19 wounded.
Here's an example of this past weekend's violence, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:
Earlier in the morning, [a] man was shot dead and a 7-year-old girl was wounded in Humboldt Park on the West Side.
Fermin Cisneros, 36, was driving a car with the child and other adults at 3:04 a.m. when they heard gunshots from behind in the 1300 block of North Rockwell Street, officials said. Cisneros was hit in the head and the girl was hit in the back.
The car came to a stop in the 1500 block of North Rockwell and they were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where Cisneros was pronounced dead, authorities said. The girl, who is related to him, was listed in good condition.
A 7-year-old girl. Think about that for a minute. That little girl will live the rest of her life with those violent images in her head. Tragic, if you ask me.

The activity from the last couple of weekends has accelerated the 2020 numbers for weekend shootings. Following this past weekend's events, 24 people have been murdered and another 83 have been wounded in weekend shootings.
The total number for every day of 2020 remains stagnant from last week, as the Chicago Tribune - who keeps track of all shootings in the city - hasn't updated their numbers since February 3rd. However, as of that date, there have been 181 shootings victims in Chicago in 2020. That number is up 32 from the same point in 2019.
