Depending on where you are in the country you can get arrested for not "social distancing" the right way or not wearing a mask. But in Chicago, you can shoot someone and no one seems to care. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot are too busy worrying about what President Donald Trump is saying about them instead of actually doing something to protect the people of the city from getting hit by gunfire typically resulting from gang activity.
This past weekend saw a substantial increase in shooting victims, with at least six people dead and another 32 wounded in shootings across the Chicagoland area. The previous weekend saw at least four people dead and another 19 wounded. Even if we include Thursday, May 7 into the previous weekend, that's still one less shooting victim than the three days from this past weekend. That Thursday bore witness to five people being murdered and another nine wounded.

If that weren't enough, last Wednesday saw at least one person die with another 15 wounded in citywide shootings. The man who was fatally shot was only 22-years-old.
MRCTV have been keeping track of the number of weekend shooting victims in the city of Chicago since the beginning of 2020. After this past weekend's events, at least 68 people have been killed and another 375 have been wounded in Chicago weekend shootings. The Chicago Tribune, who usually keeps track of all shootings regardless of the day of the week, hasn't updated their numbers in two weeks.
With the summer months coming up, and temperatures only getting warmer on average, that doesn't bode well for the shooting numbers - which are already high in comparison to last year at the same time.
