Despite calls to #boycottNike in light of the company’s decision to release a line of athletic hijabs, data collected by YouGov reveals more people are now considering purchasing Nike products than were five months ago.

When Nike announced its decision to release “pro hijab” on March 7, only 31 percent of all American adults said they would consider purchasing a Nike product the next time they’re shopping. On March 29, however, 39 percent of those surveyed responded they would consider buying a Nike product.

Republicans said they were more likely to buy a Nike product after the announcement than Democrats.

It is unclear if the increase in purchase consideration is directly connected to Nike’s decision to release the hijabs.

While Nike has not been negatively affected by their decision to release hijabs, the image of Starbucks, however, took a hit after the company announced they would be hiring 10,000 refugees over the next five years.

According to YouGov, Starbucks' brand perception reportedly fell by two-thirds after they came out with their plan to hire refugees.

Before Starbucks’ announcement, 30 percent of respondents said they would consider purchasing coffee from Starbucks. After the announcement, only 24 percent said they would opt for Starbucks.
