In today’s upside-down society, it’s difficult to find a single media outlet that doesn’t employ at least one establishment crony who lives by pre-approved talking points as a way to always ensure employment in the industry.
Newsmax anchor Bob Sellers appears to have gone into business for himself Tuesday while interrupting — ahem, interviewing — MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell about why he was societally canceled by social media outlets and businesses that carried his product, like Kohl’s.
Lindell began his answer saying the his social media accounts were taken down because he believes that fraud permeated the 2020 presidential election, and as we all know, you’re not allowed to have that opinion on social media — and apparently in front of Sellers.
“Mine was taken down because we have all the election fraud with these Dominion machines, we have 100 percent proof,” Lindell said.
Sellers then cut Lindell off, Newsmax lowered Lindell’s audio and Sellers proceeded to lecture Lindell and the viewing audience about opinions.
“Mike, thank you very much,” Sellers interrupted. “You’re talking about machines that we at Newsmax have not been able to verify any of those kinds of allegations.”
So what?! Whether you agree with Lindell or not, he still should have been allowed his right to free speech. But, he was not afforded that by Sellers.
Sellers became so irate at Lindell, while Lindell kept speaking during Sellers’ interruption, he read a pre-approved statement which somehow allows news anchors to deny guests their right to free speech.
“Let me read you something,” Sellers said. “While there were some clear evidence of some cases of voter fraud and election irregularities, the election results in every state were certified, and Newsmax accepts the results as legal and final. The courts have also supported that view.”
Instead of interrupting, Sellers could have acted like a professional instead of a petulant child. Lindell wasn’t saying what Sellers wanted to hear, so he cut him off. He could have allowed Lindell to speak his mind and then pushed back if he wanted with a question. But that didn’t happen.
Sellers then threw a tantrum on-air and asked Newsmax producers if they could leave the segment.
“Can I ask our producers, can we get out of here, please?” Sellers asked disgusted at the segment and seemingly Lindell.
Well, Sellers must not have received the response he was looking for, because he ended up storming off the set.
In reality, Sellers was probably trying to prevent Dominion from suing Newsmax after Dominion and Smartmatic threatened legal action against the outlet back in December. So was this unnecessary scene because of some kind of conviction Sellers has or because of legal threats? Follow the money.
To be fair to Newsmax, they did have Lindell back on their network later on Tuesday and all seems to be well between the pillow king and the outlet.
