NBC Admits 'Meet the Press' Deceptively Edited AG Barr's Flynn Comments, Trump Says Chuck Todd 'Should be FIRED'

Members of the media sometimes have a difficult time grasping why people think and call them "fake news." This is just another example.

NBC, "Meet the Press" and host Chuck Todd were all called out on Sunday after airing a clip of U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr speaking about criminal charges against former national security adviser and former Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn being dropped last Thursday.

"Well, history is written by the winners," Barr said in the clip used on "Meet the Press." "So it largely depends on who's writing the history."

The problem is that the clip was edited to cut out Barr's explanation that gave further context to his comments.

"But I think a fair history would say that it was a good decision because it upheld the rule of law," Barr continued after the NBC clip ended. "It helped, it upheld the standards of the Department of Justice, and it undid what was an injustice."

The comments came during an interview with CBS News' Catherine Herridge in an interview from last Thursday.

Here's Todd presenting the edited clip in question:

The "Meet the Press" Twitter page admitted that the clip was edited and they conveyed their "regret," but also said the clip was edited in the way it was "inadvertently." However, they only made the admission after being called out by Department of Justice (DOJ) Director of Communications and Public Affairs and spokeswoman for Barr, Kerri Kupec.

Here's the subsequent response tweet from the "Meet the Press" Twitter page:

It kind of sad that they still couldn't accept very much guilt for the seemingly intentional edit. It's not like they edited out a comment that was in the middle of other comments. They simply used the comment they wanted and cut off the rest.

President Donald Trump chimed in on the situation, tweeting that "Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd should be FIRED."

The problem is that a lot of the people who actually watched Sunday's edition of "Meet the Press" will probably never know that NBC deceptively edited the Barr clip. The only fessed up to their actions in a response, not an original tweet.

Integrity in the media looks to be a completely lost virtue.
