Turkish-born NBA player Enes Kanter, calls Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “the Hitler of our century,” who tries to silence those who speak out against his government.

The Oklahoma City Thunder center made the comments in a video he posted to Twitter over the weekend, where Kanter blamed Turkey for cancelling his passport while he was traveling in Romania.

“The reason behind it is just, of course my political views and the guy who did it is, Recep Tayyip - the President of Turkey,” Kanter says in the video.

“He’s a bad, bad, man - he is a dictator and he’s the Hitler of our century.”

ESPN is reporting that during a press conference on Monday, Kanter said he wanted to become an American citizen.

"Right now I am country-less," Kanter said at the National Basketball Players Association headquarters in Manhattan. "I am open to adoption definitely. I am going to try to become an American citizen. I have a green card. We will see if they can speed up the process a little bit. It would definitely be nice. Right now my next move is becoming an American citizen."
