U.S. Navy Says They'll 'Review' Sailors Wearing Trump-Inspired Patches Aboard the USS Wasp

During a visit by President Trump to the USS Wasp in Japan on Tuesday, some members of the U.S. Navy honored the president by wearing patches that read “Make Aircrew Great Again."

Now, the Navy is reviewing Defense Department policy regulations to see if the crew violated military dress code.

The patches were worn on the right arm of the military uniform with an image representing the president and is obviously a play on Trumps well-known slogan “Make America Great Again.”

Images of the red patch caused some Twitter users to express their disdain for the Navy’s “oversight.”

“Dear Sirs. @USSWaspLHD1 your sailors/airmen are in clear violation of UCMJ bringing disgrace to the Wasp and the US Navy,” Claude Taylor wrote. “Who ordered this? Who paid for it? What say you?”

His sentiments weren’t rare, others joined him in his stance but there were also some who supported the attire.

As the AP reports, “the military has uniform dress codes and regulations against partisan political acts while in uniform.”

Trump visited the USS Wasp before returning to Washington D.C. after spending four days in Japan.
