MSNBC's Chris Hayes Uses Trump's Stimulus Request As 'Proof' That 'We Can, Of Course, Afford a Green New Deal'

Taking a cue from the far-left progressive Democrats he so often props up on his show, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes seized on President Donald Trump’s $500 billion economic stimulus request form Congress to claim America can afford the left's Green New Deal.

Which would cost something in the neighborhood of $51-93 trillion, but hey, let’s not squabble over numbers. Because apparently, they don’t matter and we can just print more money until Jesus returns.

Fox News Chief White House Corresponded John Roberts tweeted that @realDonaldTrump will ask Congress for more than $800 billion in economic stimulus: $500 bil in payroll tax cut, $250 bil in Small Business Association loans, $58 billion for the airlines, and a smattering of other items.”

To which Hayes snidely retweeted, “BREAKING: We can, of course, afford a Green New Deal. That’s been true all along.”

Never mind that the Green New Deal is a lot more than a payroll tax cut and cutting a few - albeit billion-dollar - checks to businesses to keep them afloat in the midst of an inevitable recession. It’s also providing guaranteeing food and utilities to everyone in America, paying for everyone’s health care, rebuilding every building to be sustainable, moving toward nixing air travel altogether, and a whole host of other far-fetched progressive ideas we don’t have the money to even think about, much less implement.

And that’s assuming they’re good ideas. Which they aren’t.
