Media Research Center President Brent Bozell reacted to Facebook's comments following the release of a preliminary “civil rights audit” that Facebook requested.

In a statement Wednesday, Bozell said:

So Facebook has met with radical left-wing so-called 'civil rights' organizations and is bending over backward to make changes they want. Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg even declared the ‘audit is deeply important to me, and it’s one of my top priorities for 2019.’

This is amazing. Mainstream conservative organizations, supported by ten times as many people as these radicals -- which is to say, tens of millions of existing or potential Facebook customers -- have been demanding the same seat at the table and have been given lip service and nothing more. In fact, in response conservatives are being systematically censored.

For Facebook to continue this nonsense about being impartial and unbiased, and just a ‘marketplace of information’ is offensive. For once and for all, Facebook: Put up or shut up.

Anything less from Facebook when it responds to criticism about anti-conservative bias will be completely unacceptable.

The latest audit specifically calls for liberal experts to be involved in both ‘content moderation’ and building an ‘accountability infrastructure.’ It is extremely interesting, and should be to Congress and the Federal Election Commission, that Facebook was catering to these liberal organizations during the 2018 election while concerns voiced by the conservative movement went virtually ignored.

While conservatives have awaited the analysis of anti-conservative bias, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg instead announced plans to shadowban content by limiting who sees it ‘even if it doesn't actually violate our standards.’ He also said Facebook will create an oversight body for content appeals.

Conservatives expect equal treatment, equal access and equal participation in an effort by Facebook to moderate content, oversee appeals and build new products. Anything less will never be accepted or tolerated by us.
