Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece and pro-life advocate Dr. Alveda King revealed on Monday that she voted for Donald Trump in the presidential election.

She told American Thinker that she's been praying for Trump and his adversaries to unite and work together.

“I pray that all polar opposites learn to Agape Love, live and work together as brothers and sisters — or perish as fools," said Dr. King. "While I voted for Mr. Trump, my confidence remains in God, for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

In an interview with Fox Business on Monday, Dr. King expressed optimism about the incoming president and America's present state of affairs.

“My uncle would be very happy with these times because it is forcing America to talk again,” she said. “We can’t be great again until we talk again.”

On the feud between Trump and civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (R-Ga.), Dr. King said she hopes the two leaders can work together in the future.

"The John Lewis I know is a peacemaker," she said.
