Michigan restaurants are officially required to take down customers’ names and contact information as of Monday, per Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s latest tyrannical orders.

The new rule, put in place by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, mandates that restaurants collect patrons’ information to enable government contract tracing the event of a COVID surge. It also enacts limitations on indoor gatherings to 50 people and no more than 6 persons per table. Restaurants are already limited to a 50 percent capacity limit, and customers are required to wear a face mask in any indoor establishment unless eating or drinking. The limits on customers put further pressure on businesses already struggling to rebound from the total closures enacted during the early days of the pandemic.

Restaurants that don’t conform to this latest contact tracing order can be fined up to $1,000 per infraction.

Michigan restaurants are far from the only businesses in Democrat-controlled cities still struggling under strict - and even still increasing - government rules on their operations. According to official estimates, more than half of all bars in New York City may close their doors permanently thanks to the economic impact of the shutdowns, while restaurants in Los Angeles are now suing the city for charging them full liquor, health and tourism licensing fees while still barring them from fully reopening.
