After several factual inaccuracies were exposed in Michael Wolff’s last masterpiece, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, many thought Wolff would sink into the abyss, never to be heard from again.

Well, guess who’s back in the news?

In his latest book set to release on June 4 called Siege: Trump Under Fire, Wolff makes a shocking claim; that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had prepared a three-count obstruction of justice indictment against Donald Trump, which was ultimately shelved.

While the accusation would be damming if true, Wolff has once again run into a bit of a roadblock — in that Mueller’s office denies the indictment’s existence.

Wolff claims in an author's note that the accusation is “based on internal documents given to me by sources close to the Office of the Special Counsel."

Yet in a statement to the Daily Caller, Peter Carr, a spokesman for the special counsel, asserted "[t]he documents that you have described do not exist.” The bluntness of the statement is out of character for Carr, who frequently declined to comment during the special counsel’s investigative period.

No one will truly know the veracity of Wolff’s assertion until his book is released, but it seems as if it, too, is doomed to be mired in controversy.
