Former NFL star Michael Vick had some choice words for Carolina Panthers quarterback and fashion nova Cam Newton on a FOX Sports segment this week.
When asked about Newton’s attention-grabbing outfit choices, Vick called it like he saw it:
“This isn’t a fashion show,” he said. “This is football.”
Vick went on to say that while he has respect for Newton and his love of fashion, as a leader of his team, there is a “different demeanor, different approach you have to take as far as your appearance.”
“You got everybody watching, Cam, including your teammates," he explained. “Throw the suit on. The hats was cool; [he] got away with that. But I mean, I respect Cam for what he does as a football player. I respect him because he loves fashion. But it’s a different demeanor, different approach you have to take as far as your appearance and everything, man. Everything plays a factor.”
Recently, Newton created buzz by wearing a loud scarf to the Panters' Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he sustained a foot injury. He wore yet another headscarf to a press conference on his injury.
Newton missed Week 3 of the current season and will miss his team's Week 4 game against the Houston Texans on Sunday due to the same injury.
