Meet the candidate who will challenge House Speaker Paul Ryan in the 2018 election.

Democrat Randy Bryce, who announced his bid earlier this week. a union ironworker and Army veteran, will run against the No. #3 man in American politics for the congressional seat in Wisconsin's 1st District.

Already, it seems the Democrat's campaign will focus on Ryan's role in the attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare.

"What Paul Ryan and the Republicans are doing to take health care away from millions of us, to make it cost more and cover less, and to allow the protections we've gained to be stripped away, it's just unacceptable," said Bryce.

Bryce's first campaign ad, released on June 18, begins with a soundbite from Ryan on repealing Obamacare, followed by Bryce's mother describing her battle with multiple sclerosis.

At the end, Bryce challenges the Speaker, "Let's trade places, Paul Ryan. You can come work the iron, and I'll go to D.C."

Bryce does not have the best track record when it comes to running for public office, having run twice for state-wide office and has lost. Paul Ryan has consistently won Wisconsin's 1st District since 1998.

Still, Democrats are going all-in, setting Bryce up with an elite campaign staff. His campaign manager, Bill Hyers, has worked for Sen. Kristen Gillibrand and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. Already, Bryce's campaign has received $2 million in donations.
