(Update 8/30/20: Upon request POLITICO's Dan Diamond desired to have it noted that on occasion he has tweeted about the public health risks of protests, which he indeed has, but the examples he sent were not retweeted by CNN's Brian Stelter. The final paragraph of this story adds this information.)
In true double-standard fashion, the leftists media are now accusing the Trump administration of posing a public health threat during last night’s Republican National Convention by gathering in the Rose Garden, all while blatantly ignoring – and even justifying, in many cases – violent protester’s who’ve gathered by the thousands in the streets and accosted innocent citizens while not wearing masks or practicing social distancing.
In a tweet shared by CNN’s Brian Stelter, POLITICO’s Dan Diamond accused the administration of “modeling bad public health behavior.”
GOP modeling bad public health behavior during pandemic tonight.

Per this overhead shot of the Rose Garden, I counted at least 72 people without masks (including Trump and Pence).
Meanwhile, spotted just six people with masks, clumped to the back. Unclear if reporters. pic.twitter.com/UMvxn8xZpb
Radio host Tom Nichols blasted the administration for “zero social distancing,” comparing Trump to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
Zero social distancing in the Rose Garden, because one must court death in order to gain the approval of the Dear Leader.

Vox’s Aaron Rupar shared a deceptive photo of the crowd in which the chairs – and the people in them – appeared far closer together than they actually were.

not seeing a lot of masks or social distancing in the Rose Garden ... pic.twitter.com/HlfvtXrYT8
Author and GQ correspondent Julia Ioffe sarcastically mocked the gathering.
Loving the display of social distancing in the Rose Garden. #RNC2020

At the same time, viral video showing left-wing protesters - some of them unmasked, and all of them clustered shoulder-to-shoulder - screaming mindlessly at restaurant patrons has gone unnoticed or disregarded by the liberal media, who only appear to notice a public health crisis when it plays into their anti-Trump narrative.

Even POLITICO's Dan Diamond has noticed the health risks of protesting, but his tweets on that subject don't seem to be shared by CNN's Stelter for some reason.
10. Public health voices also widely argue these new protests are safer. More masks, for instance.

But masks clearly aren't universal—even as people sing, chant, shake hands. Here are photos from a Newark protest on Tues that "turned into a dance party."https://t.co/Q9ZoknQ1Qo pic.twitter.com/KA1hf48oX8
