Once again, the liberal media have seized on the tragic story of another illegal alien who passed away in ICE custody shortly after coming across the U.S. border illegally.

And once again, their misleading headlines have sparked outrage – regardless of the facts.

“Transgender woman migrant dies after illness in ICE custody, report says,” CNN’s headline blazed.

“Transgender woman migrant who had been in ICE custody dies after falling ill,” the Washington Post featured.

Of course, a more accurate headline would have been: "Transgender Alien With Undiagnosed HIV Dies After Illegally Crossing the U.S. Border." But then, that would've required journalistic integrity.

Here’s the gist: 25-year-old Johana Medina Leon,a transgender woman (in other words, a biological man) was apprehended after crossing into the United States illegally on April 11. He was transferred to a private ICE detention facility in New Mexico, where he later complained of not feeling well and that "other migrants" had requested he be given an IV – a medical service the detention facility couldn’t administer.

The report doesn't say when Leon first told immigration officials that he felt ill (which would seem to be a relevant detail), but did say he asked for an HIV test last Tuesday, which came back positive.

That same day, after complaining of chest pain, Leon was taken to Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso and was paroled from ICE custody. He passed away at the hospital Saturday.

“This is yet another unfortunate example of an individual who illegally enters the United States with an untreated, unscreened medical condition,” ICE Field Office Director Corey Price said in a statement, per the Washington Post. “There is a crisis at our southern border with a mass influx of aliens lured by the lies of human smugglers who profit without regard for human life or well-being. Many of these aliens attempt to enter the United States with untreated or unknown diseases, which are not diagnosed until they are examined while in detention.”

Even still, the Post reported several transgender rights groups and immigration advocates are accusing the detention center of “mistreating” its occupants, particularly several transgender migrants housed at the facility.

However, the article includes no proof or detailed description of this alleged abuse.

So in a nutshell: here you have a case of a man who thinks he’s a woman, who undertook a long and arduous journey to the United States in violation of U.S. immigration law, all with a deadly disease that had gone untreated for God-only-knows how long, who ultimately passed away after nearly a week of American taxpayer-funded medical treatment.

But, once again, it’s apparently all ICE’s fault.
