Many Things Are Cancelled At This Time - But Not Our Values

Many of us are feeling a little uncomfortable right now. The markets fall, we are having to socially distance ourselves from one another, bars and restaurants and many companies are closing their doors, hourly workers are being laid off, and there is just a massive feeling of uncertainty and fear.

The NHL and NBA are cancelled. Major League Baseball is cancelled. March Madness, movies and television production are all cancelled. It’s almost as though life itself has been cancelled as we deal with a global pandemic that is both highly infectious and in some cases, lethal.

It’s at times like these that we at our very core want some consoling, or a voice that tells us everything is going to be ok. Many of us cling to our faith at times like these, and others try to cling to each other- but government is telling us we can NOT cling to each other, at least in the physical sense, for the foreseeable future.

So as the media panics us into a state of hysteria. What are the values that are NOT cancelled? Compassion, empathy, love, caring for one another, a helping hand, charity...these are eternal values that can not be and should not be cancelled.
