Mall To Ban Teens Without Parents After 5PM

Starting in April, teens headed to the Park Plaza Mall in Little Rock, Ark. will not be allowed inside without a parent or guardian after 5 p.m.

KATV reports, that mall spokesperson, Alicia Easley, confirmed that the new youth policy will apply on Fridays and Saturdays.

Easley said teens 18 and younger will have to have a parent or guardian above the age of 21, and will be allowed to escort up to three teens at a time, as long as the one of the teens is theirs. Obviously, if the parent or guardian has more than three children, that part of the policy will not apply.

The decision comes following an incident where a large group of teens gathered at the mall.

Some parents told KATV it’s a good idea to implement this new youth policy.

"It will slow it down, but I don't think anything is a permanent solution, unfortunately until we start teaching and raising our kids the right things and the right things, the right way to do it, the right way to act. I mean, it all starts at home,” said Nick Baker.

"The kids are going to be upset because they can't get away with a lot of things that they're doing, and I think it will also upset the parents because they have to actually supervise their child, so kind of goes both ways,” said Cassandra Chestnut.

Park Plaza Mall officials are expected to hold a press confrence about the policy sometime this week.
