Luis Gutierrez Spox Gives Excuse for Rep. Walking Out During 'USA' Chant at SOTU

Luis, Luis -- oh no -- why did you go? And I don't want to hear any excuses, young man! Oh, wait. There's an excuse? Alright, let's hear it.

During Tuesday night's State of the Union address, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) walked out of the Capitol chambers while a "U.S.A" chant broke out among those who attended the speech. Both sides of aisle gave President Trump a standing ovation for his comments about how the U.S. Capitol is a "monument to the American people."

Here's a clip of Gutierrez leaving:

According to the Daily Mail's Political Editor David Martosko, Gutierrez's spokesman gave him a reason why the congressman left during such a poignant moment.

Do you buy it? Nah, me neither.

So Gutierrez needed to rush to do an interview? I'm sure a lot of other people in those chambers had interviews scheduled post-address, but I didn't see any of them leaving at any point. Sure, we saw Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) stupid face, but that's just what she does. It's expected.

We really shouldn't be surprised that Gutierrez would pull a move like this. But, how much more evidence does one need to discern that Gutierrez has no real interest in real Americans than when he walked out during a bi-partisan standing ovation in which chants of "U.S.A." could be heard?
