The New York Republican State Committee has a clear message for Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in response to his statement that America “was never that great”:

“Love it or leave it.”

The New York GOP tweeted a picture of a one-way train ticket from Albany to Canada for Cuomo scheduled for Friday, August 17.

Spokeswoman Jessica Proud in a statement said that if Cuomo doesn’t think America was ever great, “then there’s a bus ticket to Canada waiting for you.”

“Love it or leave it; that’s your choice, Mr. Cuomo,” said New York GOP spokeswoman Jessica Proud. “If you don’t think America was ever great - if you don’t appreciate the extraordinary gifts your own family got from her - then there’s a bus ticket to Canada waiting for you.”

“But if you truly believe in America, stay here and apologize to New York school children and their parents, and all Americans, for advancing the ‘hate America’ narrative being pushed by the radical left of the Democratic Party,” she went on.

Cuomo continues to face a firestorm of criticism for the remarks he made during a speech in New York on Wednesday.

“We're not going to make America great again," Cuomo said in a jab at President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan. "It was never that great. We have not reached greatness. We will reach greatness when every American is fully engaged.”

President Trump tweeted that what Cuomo said was eye-opening and possibly “career threatening.”

Despite criticism and calls for him to apologize, Cuomo doubled down, saying, "@RealDonaldTrump: What you say would be 'great again' would not be great at all...We will not go back to discrimination, segregation, sexism, isolationism, racism or the KKK. Like NY's motto says: Excelsior -- Ever Upward (not backward)."

He later tried to backtrack and deflect by saying to Trump, “America is great because it rejects your hate-filled agenda of bigotry & sexism.”

“Ny’ers have your number @realDonaldTrump & will fight you all day. Bring it on,” he tweeted.
