In the latest news from the child-abusing, scandal-hiding dumpster fire that is the Loudoun County Public School (LCPS) district, Superintendent Scott Ziegler – who once completely denied that a "gender-fluid" student who allegedly committed sexual assault at his school ever existed – is now apologizing for the "pain" caused by scandals involving that student and other abusers.
Though Ziegler should probably step down from his position. If we square Ziegler’s apology with The Daily Wire’s reporting, the LCPS superintendent seems to have known the assault happened, covered it up when asked about it, and broke the law in the process.
On October 15, following two investigative reports from The Daily Wire which accused Loudoun County Public Schools and specifically Ziegler of covering up two sexual assaults in their schools, Ziegler apologized in a press conference.
“First let me say to the families and students involved: My heart aches for you and I am sorry that we failed to provide the safe, welcoming and affirming environment that we aspire to provide,” he told parents on Friday.
“We acknowledge and share in your pain, and we will continue to offer support to help you and your families through this trauma,” he added.

Ziegler’s apology seems to confirm the allegations from the conservative outlet’s bombshell reporting. Essentially, here was Ziegler admitting four and-a-half months later that the May 28 sexual assault of a female student in a bathroom happened. The Daily Wire reported that at a school board meeting in June, Ziegler told concerned parents the incident never occurred. He stated, “To my knowledge, we don’t have any record of assaults occurring in our restrooms.”
Though, today, Ziegler insists that his June denial was due to his misunderstanding of the question at the time.
NBC local affiliate reporter Drew Wilder tweeted, “Ziegler apologized for comments he made to the board on June 22nd … saying he misinterpreted the question - believing the question was specifically about transgender students.” The alleged rapist was described by the victim's father as a boy wearing a skirt.
Either way, Ziegler’s recent apology also reveals that Loudoun County Schools may have broken the law. As the Daily Wire reported in its second investigative piece on the subject, Virginia state law stipulates “statistics on assaults and other incidents in schools to be reported to the public, in the form of annually updated statistics” uploaded to a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) database.
VDOE has no entry for sexual assaults occurring in LCPS for the 2020-2021 school year, so with Ziegler’s apology he has practically admitted that LCPS has broken the law. The fact that Ziegler still has a job is a travesty.
