Yesterday, Rep. Ben Ray Luján, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), told The Hill that the organization would not withhold support from pro-life Democratic candidates in 2018.
Not surprisingly, this made some leftists very angry.
Of course, feminists and pro-abortion crusaders like NARAL Pro-Choice America were peeved. These organizations all view abortion paradoxically as a human right. NARAL President Ilyse Hogue went on a lengthy Twitter rant right after the news broke. Check out what she had to say:
This is not about respecting personal beliefs - Dems rightly already do that. We welcome leaders with differing personal views...11/

This is about allowing a far-right, religiously warped anti-Democratic force to infect D party so they can write laws that control women 12/

Dems are ALREADY the big-tent party. It's about whether the Democratic party stands for democracy & human rights or not. Period. 13/

It seems like radical feminists still do not realize that far-left stances on issues like abortion are partly what lost Hillary Clinton the election. Continuing to prove this point are feminist writers Jill Filipovic and Lauren Duca, who also weighed in on Twitter:
What better strategy than to betray their base and reaffirm that women's basic rights are negotiable and disposable. Good luck, boys. https://t.co/xRYri4tISS

This is a betrayal of every woman who has ever supported the Democratic party. https://t.co/oQzgkUAoLX

But it was not just feminists who were upset by the DCCC's statement. Former presidential candidate and master of strange noises Howard Dean had this to say about the DCCC announcement:
I'm afraid I'll be with holding support for the DCCC if this is true. https://t.co/gt5gs4erdq

Luján is smart to fund pro-life candidates. His party needs to pick up at least 24 seats if they want to regain control of the House in 2018, and Democrats need all the help they can get. But it seems like some are still choosing radical leftist stances over what actually resonates with the American people.
The National Review's Dan McLaughlin's tweet about the 2020 presidential election from a few weeks back is true for Congress in 2018, as well:
It will be very, very hard for Democrats to lose if they're running vs Trump in 2020. But they're hard at work on a strategy. https://t.co/8aIiyCIHSo
