Leftists Blamed a California Fire on 'Climate Change' - Turns Out, It Was Set to Cover Up a Murder

It turns out a wildfire that raged across California last year, which leftists were quick to blame on climate change, wasn’t started by global warming or some cataclysmic natural event caused by CO2 emissions – authorities now say it was started intentionally to cover up a woman’s murder.

Police say they suspect 29-year-old Victor Serriteno of starting the Markley Fire, which left two people dead and displaced hundreds more, to cover up the murder of 32-year-old Priscilla Castro. Serriteno had already been arrested about a month after the fire for the woman’s murder after her burned body was found near where the fire began.

Authorities now say the two are connected.

"Based on an extensive 8-month long investigation, we believe Serriteno deliberately set the Markley Fire in an attempt to conceal this crime. Earlier this morning, Sheriff's detectives arrested Serriteno for additional charges including murder and arson," said Solano County Sheriff Tom Ferrara at a news conference Wednesday, per CNN.

The Markley Fire ended up combining with several other large-scale blazes to make up the Lightning Complex Fire, the fourth-largest recorded fire in California history.

And it’s not the only fire to have begun by human idiocy rather than climate change, which has become the left’s boogeyman for every natural disaster. A gender reveal gone wrong was found to be the culprit of the El Dorado fire, a blaze that consumed tens of thousands of acres near Los Angeles in 2020 and left one firefighter dead.

During his 2020 presidential campaign, Joe Biden pointed at climate change as the primary cause of California’s intense wildfire season, blasting Trump as a “climate denier.”

"Hurricanes don't swerve to avoid red states or blue states. Wildfires don't skip towns that voted a certain way,” he said. “The impacts of climate change don't pick and choose. That's because it's not a partisan phenomenon. It's science."

"If you give a climate denier four more years in the White House, why would we be surprised that we have more America ablaze?" Biden added.

But according to the actual facts, it looks like "climate change" and a Republican president in the White House isn't the reason half of California was smoking like a freight train last year - we've got at least one alleged murderer and an idiot family setting off explosives in a pile of dry brush to thank for that.
