An LA County health inspector caught on camera dancing after reportedly telling a local brewery to close up shop just before the Super Bowl is now defending her actions – by claiming she was simply shaking her hands dry after using hand sanitizer.
Which, as we all know, is a task that requires a full body jig.
According to ABC7, Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer, who can be seen on the Bravery Brewery’s surveillance footage breaking out in a dance after allegedly ordering them to shut down the business, is now saying she wasn't dancing - she was just drying her hands.
“Ferrer says the inspector was shaking her hands dry after using hand sanitizer. She added the inspector never closed the business, and was trying to clear up some questions about paperwork,” ABC7 reports.
Now perhaps I’ve been doing it wrong all these years, but I’m fairly certain that shaking one’s hands dry doesn’t involve clapping one’s hands together and swaying rhythmically. Here’s the video of Ferrer’s little jig, in which she can clearly be seen dancing.

Bart Avery, one of Bravery Brewery’s owners, claims Ferrer had come into his store, which was offering customers draft beer to-go, at around 11 a.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, interrupted an ongoing transaction with a customer, and told the store’s lone employee that they had to close down because the brewery didn’t have a food truck. The worker left the counter to call Avery, during which time the surveillance footage caught Ferrer dancing while alone on the store floor.
Except that according to local ordinances, the brewery didn’t actually need a food truck to operate – an error that Avery says Ferrer eventually acknowledged, and for which her boss called the very next day to apologize.
Unfortunately, it took time to sort through all the confusion, forcing Avery to close his store for at least half an hour and costing him business on one of the busiest days of the year.
Avery also admitted from the start that he never knew why Ferrer was dancing, but said he didn’t appreciate her blasé attitude after damaging his business, which he says has already been devastated by nearly a years' worth of forced shutdowns and social distancing mandates.
