An armed robber got pretty much got what was coming to him after he held up a convenience store in North Carolina.

The man, identified as 22-year-old Andrew Michael Davis, was caught on surveillance camera without a shirt pointing a gun at a clerk in a Shop and Save in Burke County around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

After Davis got the cigarettes and cash officials says he was looking for, he ran away from the store. But a customer was not interested in allowing him to get away with his crime.

The sheriff of Burke Country told WSOC-TV that the customer followed the thief in his truck and struck him down with the vehicle.

Davis suffered serious injuries from the incident and was no longer able to run away. He was reportedly found in a ditch near the store and rushed to a nearby hospital. Once the 22-year-old is released he will face charges.

"I think it's awesome," Angela Clay, a shopper, told WSOC-TV. "I know he [the customer] took a great risk, but more people need to start standing up."

Another woman had one word for what took place: “Karma.”

“I hate to say it [karma] but as long as he’s alive maybe he’ll have time to think and never do it again.”

Will the customer face any charges?

As WSOC-TV reports:

Officials said they're looking into what happened between the customer and Davis. It will be up to the district attorney to decide if any charges will be filed against the customer.
