An Alabama teacher claims she was sent home from school to change her t-shirt, which had the phrase "just pray" on it.

WALA reports, Chris Burrell said she decided to wear the shirt to school last Monday morning because it reminded her of 11-year-old Aubreigh Nicholas. Nicholas is a young girl in the community that was diagnosed with a rare and inoperable brain tumor.

Organizers of a fundraising campaign called "Aubreigh's Army" created the t-shirts in her honor.

The superintendent of Mobile County Public Schools said the shirt violated the dress code policy, which states teachers and students cannot wear clothes that reflect certain beliefs.

"We have to be cognizant of everyone's beliefs or everyone's thoughts in a public school," said superintendent Martha Peek.

The principal didn't know the shirt was in support of Aubreigh's Army, according to WALA.
