“The View” co-host Joy Behar on Tuesday admitted that the media pushed a false narrative about the Convington Kids but defended the dishonest and misleading coverage by saying that the media rush to judgment because “we’re desperate to get Trump out of office.”
Behar was discussing with her co-hosts the controversy surrounding the Covington Catholic High School students who were smeared by the media after an alleged confrontation with a Native American man which turned out to be false.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the conversation by saying that “many people admitted they made snap judgments when the facts came in” and that this isn’t the first time that the media has had to “walk stuff back when it turns out we’re wrong.”
“Why is that? Why do we keep making the same mistake?” Goldberg asked.
“Because we’re desperate to get Trump out of office,” Behar replied, drawing applause from the audience.
“Not everybody though,” host Abby Huntsman chimed in, meanwhile Goldberg was seen shaking her head in disapproval.
With a big smirk – the same kind that student Nick Sandmann was attacked for wearing in the face of this man who approached him and the rest of the Convington students banging a drum, mind you – Behar continued, “I think that that’s the reason. I think the press jumps the gun a lot because we just, we have so much circumstantial evidence against this guy that we basically are hoping that, you know, Cohen’s got the goods and what have you, so it’s wishful thinking.”
So we’re chalking up journalistic dishonesty and the media failing to do its due diligence to “wishful thinking”? Even when fake news is proven to be fake news, the Left is unabashed.
Goldberg tried to steer the conversation in the right direction, responding, “Let’s talk about the kids in this particular confrontation because that’s the question at hand.”
