Ohio Governor (and failed Republican presidential candidate, real shocker there) John Kasich blasted defenders of AR-15s Monday on CNN, mocking those who believe the Second Amendment covers the right to own...well, a fairly low-powered varmint rifle.

“I was talking to a friend of mine this morning. He’s a big gun collector,” Kasich said. “I said, ‘If all of a sudden you couldn’t buy an AR-15, what would you lose? Would you feel as though your Second Amendment rights had been eroded because you couldn’t buy a God-darned AR-15?’ These are the things that have to be looked at and action has to happen before…and look, you’re never going to fix all of this, but common sense gun laws make sense.”

Of course, Kasich failed to point out that the primary failure to prevent last week’s mass shooting at a Florida high school was on the part of the government – the same government he now wants to strip law-abiding American citizens of their constitutional rights.
