“Race hustlers” aren’t confined to activists and media personalities. We have quite a few politicians who use race as a crutch because their arguments rarely hold water. People use race in situations that don’t warrant it because it’s easy. Doing actual congressional work doesn’t get them the attention they crave, so living in sound bites is much easier and feeds them the attention they truly believe they’re entitled to.
Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) is no exception to that assessment.
Jeffries spoke at a National Action Network event in New York on Monday. The congressman was supposed to be there to commemorate the memory of late civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Of course, Jeffries knew he had cameras on him, so he took the easy path and decided to defame President Donald Trump.
“These are challenging times in the United States of of America,” Jeffries said. “We have a hater in the White House, the Birther-in-Chief, the Grand Wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. One of the things we’ve learned is that while Jim Crow may be dead, he’s still got some nieces and nephews that are alive and well.”
Here’s the evidence of Jeffries’ irresponsible rhetoric:
What the video doesn’t show is another comment he made during his time at the podium, as reported on by Breitbart.
“If Donald Trump wants to build a wall, let him do it around 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue so we don’t have to be reminded of the long national nightmare that is the Trump presidency,” Jeffries reportedly added.
There are people who hated, and still hate, on former president Barack Obama — justified or not. But, the level to which the media and politicians have targeted Trump just makes them look like they’re nothing more than wannabe usurpers of this presidency.
