Seriously?! Churches have even gotten in on the far-left act now, too? Ugh, okay. Here it is.
A church in Indianapolis, Ind. put up a different kind of scene on their front lawn this past July, featuring statues of the Virgin Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus behind a barb-wired fence to protest the issue of immigration.
Well, the Christ Church Cathedral (CCC Indy) stayed classy on Monday by tweeting out a reminder that, yes, they in fact are the church that — as they phrased it — put #JesusInACage.
Here’s the tweet, complete with their July statement that included their pro-illegal immigration hashtag, #EveryFamilyIsHoly:
In the memo, CCC Indy’s Dean and Rector, Steve Carlsen virtue signaled all over the place:
Holy Scripture is clear about how we are to treat people trying to find safety for their families — we are to show mercy and welcome them. Jesus, Mary and Jospeh we homeless and fled danger to seek asylum.
The Holy Family today calls us to stand with all families seeking safety and a future for their children. We will not stand by while children are being taken from their parents, and families are being taken from our communities and congregations.
People of good will and faith must not allow this to continue. We must not be divided by race, language or culture, but reach out to care for our neighbors — because every family is sacred.
While I can agree with Carlsen that “every family is sacred,” he must also recognize that we are a nation of laws. We don’t have these laws in place as a polite suggestion. They’re in place for the protection of the sovereignty of this country and the people within it.
As far as Carlsen’s assertion that people are just “trying to find safety for their families,” that’s been proven to be false since Carlsen made the statement, courtesy of migrant “caravan.”
Last week, MSNBC reporter Gadi Schwartz was reporting from the Tijuana camp where a large portion of the “caravan” were squatting. In his report, Schwartz said that the majority of the “caravan,” which he also said was comprised mostly of men, were migrating from Central America to “find work.”
That’s not the same thing as “safety.”
And when it comes to children being “taken away” from their parents? Yeah, that’s the parent’s fault.
As MRCTV’s Brittany Hughes reported back in May:
Left-wing federal judges in places like California have ruled that the government cannot detain minors at an immigration detention facility for more than 20 days. But the government can detain the adult parent. This helps deter illegal immigration and hold immigration violators accountable, while keeping vulnerable children from being locked up with adults in a detention facility.
Maybe Carlsen should advocate for families, no matter what country they currently reside in, to not break the law. That might sound cold, but if everyone else in this country has to abide by the rules, why should non-citizens get special exemptions?
CCC Indy can brag all they want about putting #JesusInACage. But, the truth is what really sets you free.
