Identity-Based Lessons? Parents Upset as NJ School Board Begins Implementing LGBTQ History Into Curriculum

True equality means not having to trot out identity politics in order to somehow designate a level of importance. For example, when talking about baseball players, they should be judged on performance, not what their skin color is or what country they’re from. In reality, using identifiers minimizes the person’s accomplishments.

Well, New Jersey’s state Board of Education (BOE) has been attempting to implement LGBTQ history, among other identity-based lessons, into their curriculum much to the chagrin of some parents.

According to NJSpotlight.com, the BOE has already included certain language in their revisions for “social studies standards” that aid local school districts with guidelines that outline what should be included into lesson plans.

NJSpotlight.com reported:

Among the additions, for example, is the expectation that schools and students specifically speak to the LGBTQ community: “Explore the various ways women, racial and ethnic minorities, the LGBTQ community, and individuals with disabilities have contributed to the American economy, politics and society.”

In another section: “Evaluate the extent to which women, minorities, individuals with gender preferences, and individuals with disabilities have met their goals of equality in the workplace, politics, and society.”

Holy virtue signaling, Batman! Again, this practice minimizes the accomplishments of people throughout history, because instead of them being known by their name and what they did, kids will now get to learn how to judge people by their skin color, ethnicity and sexual orientation.

Hooray for social engineering!

As noted earlier, some parents of students are not happy with this inevitability. I say “inevitability” because when anything is government-run, it usually means the quality of whatever they’re in charge of is bottom-of-the-barrel awful. So, it should go without saying that government-run schools, at least the higher-ups in charge of setting the standards, will focus less on a quality education and more on informing children of what they want them to know.

Parent Odalys Vasquez spoke to the BOE at a meeting on Thursday and stood up for her rights as a parent.

“I am very offended that you let this pass and you’ve taken away my rights as a parent,” Vasquez said. “I gave birth to my children, not you, and you are forcing me to take my kids out of the public school.”

This is what people don’t understand about the government-run education system. These school districts, especially the larger ones, want to replace parents as the people children should listen to in their lives. For them, government is God, and the schools are the churches that attempt to brainwash kids until they end up like a lot of the uneducated kids currently inhabiting college indoctrination centers.

The Alphabet Mafia, otherwise known as the LGBTQ community, want to shove their idenities down your throat instead of doing great things that others could possibly consider great without having to qualify it with a personal identifier.

I’m certain that people in the LGBTQ community have invented some great things and done countless other great things. But, I want to recognize someone for the things that they've accomplished. Being gay, a lesbian or a trans person didn’t invent whatever, the general person did.

Not once have I ever used a cooking utensil and thought, “Man, I really like this product, but I’d like it even more if I knew whether the person who invented has sex with men or women!”

Thinking like that doesn’t help you gain intelligence. It actually hampers you.

People will argue that by using identifiers it helps “marginalized people” feel more at ease and comfortable. That’s nonsense. By using those identifiers, it divides people into smaller and smaller categories, which only breeds discontent.

When did we go in reverse from what the late Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. once dreamed about?

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Well, Dr. King. I’m sorry to say, but progressives have tried everything within their power to ruin your dream. The identity politics olympics have become more important to them over the last few decades than any achievement.
